Wanneer je denkt aan Smart Cities, dan is een van de eerste dingen waar je aan denkt de zelfrijdende auto – maar wat met kleinere, meer subtieler technologie die de auto’s mogelijk maakt om te rijden en zelf te parkeren, zonder te worden gestuurd door de handhaving officier.

Er is veel gesproken in de media rond slimme steden, met de burgemeester van Londen, Sadiq Khan, die de afgelopen maand aankondigde dat hij de hoofdstad moest worden als de leidende slimme stad ter wereld. Hij riep de tech-gemeenschap op om de publieke dienstverlening te verbeteren en om sociale en milieu uitdagingen op te lossen.

There has been a lot of talk in the media around smart cities, with London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, announcing last month that he wanted the capital to become the world’s leading ‘Smart City’, calling on the tech community to help improve public services and solve social and environmental challenges faced. The smart city market is one of the fastest growing segments of government and is set to hit $775 billion in 2021, according to BCC Research.

In just a few years, the number of smart cities has grown from approximately two dozen to more than 100, and it’s just the tip of the iceberg, with more than 600 cities set to “go smart” in the next few years.

Hoewel steden 80 procent van de rijkdom in de wereld genereren, krijgen ze ook steeds vaker te maken met serieuze economische, sociale, demografische en milieu-uitdagingen. In 2050 woont 70 procent van de wereldbevolking in steden en de snelle verstedelijking en vergrijzing veroorzaakt in de toekomst steeds grotere druk op energie, infrastructuur, transport en de gezondheidszorg. Om deze uitdagingen aan te pakken moeten steden nieuwe technologieën implementeren.

De slimme stad is allang geen toekomstscenario meer. Er zijn er al een heel aantal en ze groeien snel, gelijke tred houdend met de uitbreiding van het Internet of Things.

Remoticom’s building has got a beautiful make-over on the inside and outside. In the Expercience Center is the technology of the past to see, with the mast and dish from Lopik. There are also cars for testing and demonstration of our Smart Parking and Smart Traffic solutions.

Beside that a lot of changes have been made to the building, the new website of Remoticom has also gone online in Dutch and English. Internal changes have also taken place. For example, the team has been expanded with various employees in the field of R&D, marketing, process management and sales. Our engineers are working on the further development of the Smart City solutions with new innovative products, which soon more..
